Healthy Snacks

When lunch is over and dinner is still hours away how do you chose the right snack for you? First identify healthy foods you like such as fruit, nuts, granola, or other low fat natural foods. Then determine what you have handy or what sounds the best. If more than one sound good than try a combination such as a fruit smoothie or even a yogurt parfait. So next time you go to grab a bag of chips rethink and try a new healthier option.

It's a Beautiful Day at BSU!!

With the breezy, mild weather today was a great day to go for a run around the campus of Ball State. Many other people were taking advantage of the mild weather too. Students practicing sports from football to color guard demonstrate great ways to add a little more exercise into daily life of college students.

Healthy Lunch

After getting a great nights sleep, I woke up hungry in search for food. With healthier food choices on my mind, the salad bar so happened to catch my eye. My choice of toppings today were cheese, croutons, ham, turkey, and onions with low-fat Caesar dressing. Not a fan of salad? There are plenty of other healthy lunch options such as wraps, vegetable soup, or other well rounded nutritious foods. So I encourage you to go out, make healthy food choices, and stay active!

Yucky Weather

With rainy yucky weather sweeping across Indiana it may seem like the perfect movie night. Although a movie may be tempting try using it as a reward for after working out inside. Inside work out facilities are great but not typically free so I encourage u to get creative and compose ur own work out in ur home. If you find creating ur own indoor work out try finding free videos online or even check ur local library to check out a free instructional work out routine DVD.

Sick

While today my body decided to turn against me I had a full list of things to still do. That included another day of working out. The workout consisted of bench, decline bench, abs, push ups, and i could handle no more. Its important to listen to your body to return back to good health faster taking the work out easier or even the day off would be the best idea.

Super Track

While my primary focus is creating a healthier life style through an increase in physical exercise, food selection is another key factor. While a total diet change in my own diet isn't necessary but a better understanding of nutrition my body needs will help enable me to create a better food choices. Vast majority of information on what is good and bad for you will enable you to have the power to choose a healthier option when one is presented. A great resource to calculate your bodies nutritional needs is Super Tracker and can be found on choosemyplate.gov. This allows you to see the recommend amounts of each food group, being accurately calculated off of your own information. So what are u waiting for and give it a try and let me know what you think?

Fast Paste Weekend

With the weekend feeling like it should just be starting, I'm preparing to head back to college classes tomorrow. While feeling depressed another school week is on the way I took the opportunity to go work out burning some extra energy. I headed to work out at the ball state rec center. Today focus was arms and upper body ending in additional work out of core strength through various abdominal exercises. Working out before the busy week begins is a great way to get a heads start and to relieve any stress.

Blogger holding me back!

While my goal is to become physically fit and share my experiences to an audience, I'm finding that posting frequently has been keeping me from going out and being active. The only exercise I am receiving while I post on the blog is finger exercise that studies are trying to link to arthritis in these joints. So that's all, going out to enjoy the rest of the great day :). I encourage you all to go out and do the same and let me know what you decide to do.

Recovery

Waking up to be slightly sore from lifting yesterday was discouraging to keep exercising but knew I should look for a different activity. I missed a great day out yesterday so I wanted a chance to get out and enjoy the nice weather today while going on a jog across campus. Before I took off I warmed up my muscles by stretching to decrease the chance of a muscle cramp. While jogging a feeling of tiredness was overwhelmed by the nice weather and music blasting through my ear buds to keep me going. Immediately after the jog exhaustion hit but was short lived with feeling refreshed after stretching and cooling down. I choose to go on a jog to let my upper body rest from yesterdays work out. Rest is important for your muscles to recover so alternating between different physical activity's allows you to work different muscles groups while still being active daily. I'm looking for more ways to motivate myself, so I want to know what helps motivate you to stay physically active?

Nice Weather

Although the weather is 70 and sunny the Ball State University recreation center was the location of choice for my work out of the day. While walking to the rec center I was not excited about going but was determined to get a solid work out in. During my hour and a half stay my work out consisted in a wide range of activities. First I went down to the machine and free weight area to work on muscular strength primary focusing on upper body strength. After lifting weights I partook in doing crunches and holding form in plank position working on my core body strength. With an increase in body strength it helps form a better body posture. Finally for my cool down I went and played basketball receiving cardiovascular exercise. Post exercise walk back felt refreshing that I was on my way to becoming more physically fit. The feeling is indescribable so I encourage you to go out and experience it yourself by possibly going out to enjoy the weather!

Staying Strong

Although I have not shared my experience of getting fit, I have been working to improve personal overall health daily for20-30 min. During this duration of time exercises included push ups, curls, planks, moderate jogging, and most importantly pre and post exercise stretching. Half way in to the thirty day challenge these exercises are becoming repetitive so i ask you for exercise suggestions?
